Zakat on profit sharing investments

Assalamu alaykum,

how much Zakat should be paid on the profit sharing account at the Islamic bank? As I understand the bank uses the money to invest in real economy and the profit / loss will be shared with the depositor. Is the ruling here the same as for stocks (40% of market value * 2.5%)?

Assalaamu alaykum,

Generally, such bank accounts invest in commodities or the home purchase plans which are also buy-to-sell. Therefore, Zakat would be due on the full balance of the account.
