Zakat on inherited land on which there is rental income

I did some research and I believe there is a mainstream view that land one inherits is not Zakatable even if he intends to sell it for profit because he didn’t come into ownership of it with the intention of trade but rather through inheritance.

But what if the land inherited has a rental property on it that the children inherited? Is the income from that rental property also not Zakatable?

And does the non-Zakatable status of inherited land only apply to land and not cash? As in if the parent left cash in a bank account, this would be Zakatable?

Wasalam

May Allah bless you

  1. what’s left of the rental income on the zakat day will be included into the zakat calculation.

  2. money and trading assets are by default zakatable. Land isn’t, unless it falls under the trading assets category.

And Allah knows best!
