Working for the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)

Salaam

I am just wondering what the ruling is on working for the regulator, the FCA. As you might be aware, the FCA regulates all financial services firms and makes its money from the fees it charges to firms which includes conventional banks as well as insurance firms, credit brokers and sharia compliant banks.

I am currently working in the Authorisations department within the insurance team. I deal with applications from new general insurance brokers/ intermediaries who are looking to set up and want to be regulated by the FCA. I review the processes they have in place and ensure they comply with regulations and the FCA Handbook including fair treatment of customers etc and either authorise the firms so they can trade or reject their applications.

My role is very much similar to that of a Compliance Analyst. I am just wondering if it is permissible?
