Using USDT to buy other coins

Assalamu alaykum,

  1. Is it permissible to use USTD (Tether) to buy other crypto currencies?

  2. Because some cryprocurrencies are new, there hasn’t been any explanation on them regards to whether they are halal or not, so it it permissible to invest in it, then if we find out later on that it is haraam, then we can sell it and donate the profits to charity?
