I’m Student in America. Is applying for student loan for master degree consider haram (( I can’t afford paying it out of my pocket))?
May Allah bless you.
The general stance on interest-bearing student loans is that they are not in accordance with Islamic principles. However, if you find yourself with no other options—unable to afford tuition, without support from family and friends, and ineligible for grants or scholarships—then taking such a loan could be considered permissible. The condition is that you should aim to pay it back as quickly as possible to limit the amount of interest accrued. Taking the loan should also be based on the belief that completing your Master’s will genuinely improve your life circumstances. For personalized guidance, consult a qualified Islamic scholar.
And Allah knows best!
