Life Insurance Payout - part of estate or not?

Salam,

I have life insurance as part of my employment package. I can stipulate who the payout goes to when I die.

If I died tomorrow, does the life insurance payout get divided amongst my inheritors according to the same shariah rules as any other asset?

May Allah bless you.
Yes it should also be part of your estate which will be divided among your heirs.
However, this is provided that the life insurance was offered free of charge, and not in lieu of part of your wage.
