I am living in Munich Germany, I have been offered a job as a Data Engineer at a big German corporate insurance firm.
My job however, involves mainly around risk analysis (through data modelling and statistical analysis) and presenting the results, which in turn will be used by senior management and underwriters who are going to decide how much premiums to set.
I have seen the arguments that brother Ibrahim Khan has put forward in his article “Insurance: Is it Haram or Halal?” where he says that the insurance now has less element of Gharar because the companies are using Big data to define premiums and not speculations.
Having said that and knowing the information I have provided to you, Do you think it is permissible for me to accept the offer and work in this company?
