Assalamu alaykum
Mufti sab, I have a question regarding zakat which I hope you can answer.
Many shopping malls and e-commerce sites award customers with “points” whenever a purchase is made. Later on, these “points” can be redeemed to purchase any product.
Since there is obviously a monetary value associated with these “points”, I want to know whether such “points” have to be considered in my annual Zakat calculation.
For example, if I know that 500 points from site xyz.com can be used to buy a product worth $1, then do I have to include that $1 in my annual Zakat calculation?
