Is my Executive Role (IT) in a Bank's Security Division Halal?

Assalaam Alaikum.

I am in a dilema. I have been offered a CIO (Chief Information Officer) position in the country’s top bank’s securities division. The role is predominantly IT & Digital and involves building systems to enable day to day operations.

My daily work & inputs will be primarily strategy, execution, planning & delegation. Typical CXO role.

Is this a halal option? This offer is a pretty big deal obviously but I will not take it up if it’s haraam.

Wa alaykum salaam,

We would encourage you to work in a company whose core business is Halal. If you are currently in this role, you may remain in it. But keep looking for an alternative where the company does not primarily deal with unlawful services and products.
