Investing in company whose clients are mostly questionable

Assalamu Alaikum,

Would it be okay to invest in a company that is a lawful business, but most of their clients are not halal businesses? An example of this is a company that sells POS systems but much of their clients and focus is in the restaurant industry (most of which will not be halal operating in a non-Muslim country)

JazakAllah khair

Wa alaykum salaam,

When it comes to investing, as long as the company is Shariah compliant both from a business screening and financial screening perspective, then the clients can be anybody. It doesn’t matter who they trade with.

So, yes, if it shariah compliant in and of itself, you may invest in such a company.
