I have an account with Interactive Brokers, when I fund my account it is in Canadian dollars. If I wish to purchase US listed equities then I must convert my currency from Canadian dollars to US dollars. Is it shari’ah compliant to do the currency conversion within Interactive Brokers? The currency conversion appears to happen right away (I have access to the converted US dollars) and I can then proceed to purchase shari’ah compliant equities denominated in US dollars.
