As a revert, I’m new to the ways of Islam. I’m wondering how to ethically and correctly transfer funds from oversees (Bangladesh) to Canada (my current home) or UK (I’m British born) in a way that is law-abiding safe and doesn’t break the laws of the land.
My research indicates it’s NOT allowed but then I see so many Muslims doing it without fear of repercussion.

Although they may be some difference of opinions between some scholars, however, sending money via bank transfer or companies such as Western Union etc is permissible.
Also, many people depend on the transfer of remittances which was worth over $40 billion in the Sub Saharan Africa alone couple of years ago. So, out of necessity (darurah), we have to allow this sort of method of money transfer.
