As Salamu alaykum urahmtaluLlahe ua barakatuhu,
I have been offered a job as a personnel administrator at the HR Department of the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food in Germany. Since they do offer capital accumulation benefits (in german: Vermögenswirksame Leistungen) I do not know if this part makes the job haram. Capital accumulation benefits are cash benefits that the employer invests for the employee in one of the legally specified forms of investment. And due to the fact that ordinary investments very often contain riba or other haram elements I am not 100% sure if I should accept the job, because as a HR staff member I might have to process the application for such a request from the employees. And if it is not part of my job, still an employee could ask me something in that regard and I have to answer. I did Istikhara and I have the feeling that I should take the job, but I want your advice as well respected scholars.
Barak Allahu feekum and thank you very much!
