Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh

Is it permissible to work for Amazon Flex as a delivery driver? The job role is to collect amazon parcels at one of their warehouses and deliver them to customers.

However the issue could be that you may deliver something that is not permissible. I don’t think you are told what’s in the parcels so you probably wouldn’t know. However as it’s Amazon I would expect the majority of the items being delivered would be permissible.

On a similar topic, what’s the ruling regarding working for Uber Eats, Deliveroo and such companies ?

  1. Yes it is permissible to deliver Amazon parcels, as you have no knowledge of what is inside the parcels.

  2. The issue of working for Uber Eats and Deliveroo etc is that you may be required to deliver haram foods and drinks. This is not permissible according to many scholars. However according to Imam Abu Hanifa’s principle, it would be permissible to transport them on behalf of the owner.
    Therefore for those who need to work and have an income, then it is fine for them to do this sort of job.
