Adjusting price after sale, without product

Assalamu Alaikum,

I want to ask if it’s okay to get a price adjustment a few days after purchasing a product. Here are some specific use cases:

  • seller offers a discount if you show a membership card. You left your membership card at home. You buy the product today, then a few days later you bring the receipt and membership card and they do an adjustment on the price
  • you buy a product today and the next week it goes on sale. You bring the receipt to get a price match done.

In some cases, it is probably processed as a refund and re-purchase.

@Mufti_Billal jazakAllah khair for your reply. Would this also hold true if the item is not present at the time of return and is not even returnable anymore - for example, clothes that have been worn or the item has been gifted to someone else?
